ELECT AHMED KASSAD FOR KITCHENER PUBLIC SCHOOL BOARD TRUSTEE
Ahmed Kassad
Public School Board Trustee Candidate for Kitchener
Focused on Education and Transparency
I immigrated to Canada from Egypt when I was 12 years old. I came here about a week before the start of the school year, and you can imagine how nerve wracking that must have been. I always loved technology, so by the time I graduated from high school, I had decided to make a career in IT. I am now a Business systems analyst, as well as the owner of a successful fencing company.
I met my beautiful wife during my college years and we have been together since. We have two amazing young boys.
When we decided to buy our first home in 2017, we looked everywhere, and we decided to move to Kitchener because we fell in love with the house, the neighborhood, and the sense of community that we immediately felt. There were many other young families in our neighborhood and we knew this was the place for us.
We raise our boys to strive for success, think critically and always maintain a love for learning.
As a parent of two young boys who are currently just starting their schooling journey, I was naturally inclined to become more involved in my children's education.

WHY I AM RUNNING FOR THE WRDSB SCHOOL BOARD
My decision to register my nomination for the school board was born from the need to ensure that parents, such as myself, are more involved and consulted on policies and decisions made within the school system.
My concerns with transparency on the current board were a big influence on my decision to run. There are disturbing symptoms of a deeply rooted problem in the governance of our education system; publicly elected trustees being silenced without a reason provided to the parents, and teachers being negatively impacted when they speak out about the age appropriateness of some books in school.
I believe that a school board trustee's main commitment is to the parents, and this relationship needs to be built on transparency and trust.
I encourage other parents to reach out to make a difference in our children's journey, and to ensure that their input and opinions are heard and represented. I also encourage all parents to go out and vote, as this is how we are going to be heard!

TRANSPARENCY WITH PARENTS
Parents vote for trustees, and trustees are accountable to parents. They deserve to be informed and consulted on decisions made within the board, and their concerns should be heard and represented fairly.

FOCUS ON EDUCATION
As trustees, we should work to ensure that students excel in academics. Literacy, Mathematics, and critical thinking should be the focus of the education system.

EMPOWERED STUDENTS
ALL students should feel empowered to learn, experience, and grow in an environment that fosters creativity and challenges them to become their best selves.
